Two Shepherds Vermentino 2023

Sourced from The Bench, Lodi, California, this eight-barrel lot of Vermentino (also known as Rolle in Southern France) was fermented and aged in 50% stainless steel and 50% neutral oak barrel for six months. Organically farmed, no additions save a small amount of sulfur. Fresh and gulpable, mouthwatering acidity, with weight and texture that belies the low 11.5% alcohol. Lime zest and white grapefruit, a perfect apéritif. Summertime, anytime, in a glass. Scrumptious with all things fried, spicy, salty. Only 200 cases produced.

Two Shepherds focuses on Rhône and rare, uncommon varieties, often from the only few acres available in California. While their total production is small, the offerings are vast. Nicknamed “insane master of small lots,” winemaker William Allen crafts abotu 15 different wines each vintage, including some that are only 1-2 barrels. Their old-world style, free from manipulation, allows for the ture expression of the variety, vintage and vineyard.
