Château du Cauze Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2022
This beautifully crafted wine boasts a dark red color with aromas of juicy blueberries, black currants, and a hint of vanilla. Rich and soft on the palete, with flavors of tart berries, red cherries, herbs, stones and hibiscus. Medium body and fresh, sleek tannins, and a long and elegant finish.
90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the eastern side of Saint Emilion's limestone plateau. The gentle hills provide shelter from the north and west, an incline towards the sun and relative immunity to frost. The soil in this part of Saint-Emilion consists of clay and limestone. Sustainable farming with organic practices, the grapes are hand-harvested. Aged 18 months in French oak. Another modern, gracious, fruit-driven Bordeaux from Bruno Laporte.
Chateau du Cauze was built on the ruins of a fortified castle destroyed during the Hundred Years' War in the 19th century. In 1986, the Laporte Family bought the entire property. The estate is currently operated under the stewardship of Bruno Laporte.
