Judith Beck Blaufränkisch 2023

Beautifully developed Blaufränkisch, combining power with grace and displaying notes of black licorice, damson plum, blackberry and even a hint of cola. It firms up midpalate, with tannins that make themselves present, but also give this the structure and add to the complexity. Long and inviting finish. This is a wine that'll make you wonder why you haven't had more Blaufränkisch in your life. Everything you could want in a medium-bodied red. Depth and persistence of flavour, freshness of acidity, rippling tannins, spice and intrigue. 

100% Blaufränkisch harvested by hand, destemmed but not crushed about 50 % entire berries. Fermented in 3500 liter wooden cask. Three weeks of maceration. Aged for 10 months in used barriques. Light sheet filtration before bottling, no fining, low sulphur. 

For over 15 years, Judith Beck's estate has been certified biodynamic, promoting soil health through the formation of humus. Once the manual harvest is done, the vinification process is minimally invasive and avoids the use of chemicals at any stage of production. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, and finally, the wine is bottled without fining.
