Remoissenet Père & Fils Bourgogne Blanc 2021
Full-flavored yet light on its feet, this stunning Chardonnay punches way above its weight every vintage. The 2021 opens with aromas of crisp pear, lemon zest, wet stones and crushed seashells, accompanied by floral notes of honeysuckle and acacia. It also features fresh golden apples and traditional French macarons. On the palate, you’ll find flavors of apricots, blood orange, lime zest, white fruit, toasted walnuts and a hint of sweet baking spices. Fresh and lively, the wine has a creamy texture balanced with crisp acidity, leading to a smooth, silky finish.
The name Remoissenet for serious collectors stands for refined, classic Burgundy wines. A leading light in Beaune for generations, this 150-yearold estate is now more than ever the definitive source for the finest wines Burgundy has to offer. Crucially, the team at Remoissenet wears two separate yet related hats. The first is as a high-quality, small-batch négociant, maintaining long-term and close relationships with growers up and down the Côte. The second is as a vine-growing estate with an expanding stable of Burgundy’s most lauded vineyards, all cared for fastidiously and according to biodynamic principles.
The winemaking is philosophically non-interventionist, with winemaker Claudie Jobard preferring to “let the grapes speak” as clearly as possible. The grapes are pressed gently in a pneumatic press and fermented on indigenous yeasts. Barrel aging, depending on vintage and cru, ranges from 30 percent new wood for villages wines to 100 percent for grand cru wines. The proof, of course, is in each bottle. Whether “basic” Bourgogne to hallowed grand cru, Remoissenet wines show a suave elegance in perfume and texture, with a finish made of silk.
