Los Caracoles Malbec Mendoza 2023
A fresh and dangerously drinkable Malbec from Uco Valley, Mendoza, in the foothills of the Andes. Its pure, light and playful character contrasts with the many overextracted and heavy Malbecs out there. Medium to full-bodied dry wine with notes of blackberry, plum and crunchy blue fruit. Balanced acidity with present yet finely-grained tannins.
The vines are 30+ years old and planted at a high elevation in alluvial soils with decomposed rhyolite. After a cold maceration of five days, grapes go into stainless steel vats where fermentation is initiated by indigenous yeasts. After a seven day fermentation, the wine sits on the skins for 20 additional days, then is pressed to concrete tanks where it rests for 6-8 months sur lie. Lightly filtered. Certified Organic with biodynamic practices.
