Bodegas Iranzo "Tarantas" Tempranillo Crianza 2019
Aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak, the Tarantas Crianza 2019 is a vivid expression of the Tempranillo grape. Aromas of ripe sour cherries, balsam, herbal notes, fresh pipe tobacco and dill, while the palate displays classic notes of vanilla cherry cola, black olives, cedar, cypress, leather and baking spice. Medium-plus body, exhibiting silky, integrated tannins balanced with prominent acidity and moderate oak flavor. A scrumptious Tempranillo with a great sense of place -- a must buy.
Tarantas Crianza 2019 is born from the rugged, sun-drenched slopes of Utiel-Requena, a high-altitude region in southeastern Spain. Situated between 700 to 900 meters above sea level, the vineyards are exposed to a blend of Mediterranean warmth and continental coolness, fostering a slow and steady ripening process. The limestone-rich soils, low in organic matter, force the vines to dig deep, enhancing the wine’s mineral complexity and structure. These conditions yield grapes with intense concentration.
Crafted by the passionate team at Bodegas Iranzo, one of Spain’s oldest estates with a winemaking tradition dating back to 1335, Tarantas Crianza reflects a commitment to organic farming and sustainable practices. The present vineyard was designed and laid out in 1983 with a view to achieving two distinct but complementary objectives: the production of Spanish organic wines of the finest quality and total respect for the environment. The volume of organic wine produced takes second place to both of these objectives.
The vine cultivation system used encourages the creation of a micro-climate at the level of the plant’s organs, with optimum temperature, insulation and humidity constants for producing organic grapes that ripen perfectly — a fundamental factor in obtaining quality fruit with the minimum of human intervention.
