Christina Grüner Veltliner 2022
This lovely little Grüner Veltliner is hazy as the day is long but the cleanest example of a natural wine you're likely to taste. It's bone-dry with notes of green pear.
Grapes are hand-harvested and pressed as whole bunches. The juice is fermented spontaneously in stainless steel in a long, slow ferment thanks to the cold cellar temperatures. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with a small addition of sulfur.
Christina Netzl got her start in her family’s vineyards at a mere 5 years old, which might explain her green thumb and interest in all things organic today. After Christina returned from college, where she studied oenology and wine management, she settled down to work alongside her family. She grew interested in organic winemaking after the birth of her two kids. From her love of organic wines came her love of natural wines, featured in her eponymous line of wines. All of the creatures on this label depict helpful insects in vineyards and gardens alike.
