Cormorant Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2023

A crisp, light-bodied Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of green apple, lemon zest, chalk and straw. The palate is dry with good minerality and tangy grapefruit and tangerine flavors and bracing acidity. A great rustic, natural style of Sauvignon Blanc that makes an easy summer crusher and versatile food pairing wine.

100% Sauvignon Blanc from Martorana Family Vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma. The wine is fermented in stainless steel drums and a couple of French oak barrels. Stirring the barrels a few times each year enables the wine to build mouthfeel and results in a full, balanced white wine with green apple, toast and white flower on the nose and palate.

Winemaker Charlie Gilmore started Cormorant Cellars in 2018 with this flagship wine. For his first few vintages, he focused on one of his favorite varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, in the traditional style of French Loire Valley wines -- fresh, acidic, with some lees contact and minimal intervention. The wine is unfiltered and unfined.

Cormorant wines are 100% vineyard-sourced and grown without synthetic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Charlie only works with growers that go through the organic certification process and uses mainly seven-year-old French barrels and some stainless drums to make his wines. Once the juice is in the barrels and drums, he does not pump, freeze or use machinery to manipulate the wine.
