Feudi Di San Gregorio Fiano Di Avellino DOCG 2022
Golden yellow with green reflections, Feudi Di San Gregorio Fiano expresses all the typical characteristics of the grape variety in the nose, thanks to a bouquet which spans from fresh camomile flowers to freshly picked fruit and candied citron. The palate is flooded with sharp sensations of the Mediterranean: fresh flowers such as chamomile, ripe pear, yellow peach, wet stone and nectarine, with a smoothness perfectly balanced by freshness and a lively minerality. This finishes with a salty flourish and lime nuances.
Feudi di San Gregorio's Fiano di Avellino is grown between 650-1650 feet above sea level in moderately deep, slight to moderately calcareous on the surface and calcareous at deeper lever soil. Due to the proximity to Mt. Vesuvius, Fiano grows in volcanic soils which provide lively acidity and minerality. It is a true expression of this native grape, which dates back to ancient Rome.
The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed at low pressure to extract the must. Cold settling overnight, fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temps and then aged about four months on its lees in stainless steel.
The finest bunches of Fiano come from the best vineyards in the hills of Sorbo Serpico. And it is from a selection of these grapes that the most representative expression of Fiano di Avellino by Feudi di San Gregorio is born. Fiano di Avellino DOCG is a deep and multi-faceted white wine which is streamlined and elegant. It is the perfect example of a wine and a territory that are unique, in a vintage which is particularly fortunate for the production of excellent white wines.
Founded in 1986, Feudi di San Gregorio is the largest family-owned winery in Southern Italy. Owned and managed by the Capaldo Family, the estate has 740+ acres of vineyards, made up of over 800 plots with varying altitudes and exposure.
