Frog's Leap Rutherford, Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc is a graceful and excellent wine, offering stone fruit and white flower aromatics, perfectly complemented by crisp, citrus and mineral flavors. Balanced, refreshing and satisfying, with notes of lemongrass and a sprinkle of sea salt. Lifted and delicious with an ultralong finish.

Of all the lessons learned over four decades making Sauvignon Blanc, the one that remains central to Frog's Leap's style and approach is patience. Resisting the temptation to rapidly expand production or fill gaps, their sources of Sauvignon Blanc are limited to their estate vineyards. As with all their grapes, Frog’s Leap Sauvignon Blanc is organically farmed without irrigation, using time-consuming pruning techniques to restrain the variety’s natural vigor and balance its yield.  

Once harvested, a small amount of skin contact precedes a slow fermentation and a seven-month stay on lees in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity and distinctiveness of the noble grape, and giving the wine time to develop texture and richness, while avoiding any technique that would make the wine heavy or ponderous. The winemakers have always sought to navigate the tension between the crisp, fruity brightness that is inherent to the variety with the savory, texture-driven flavors that only come with time.

Since 1981 Frog's Leap has sought to make wines of intent in Napa Valley, and they are proud to have two generations (of several families) working side by side in their vineyards and cellar. Their winemaking approach reflects many old world techniques. Beginning with a deep and abiding emphasis on viticulture, they also favor natural yeast fermentations, minimal use of S02, restricted use of finings or filtrations, no supplemental additions or flavoring agents.

First certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) in 1988, Frog’s Leap has chosen to farm organically for nearly four decades, secure in the knowledge that healthy soils produce healthy vines, and that healthy vines produce vibrant, flavorful fruit.
