Martha Stoumen "Post Flirtation" White 2023

This refreshing blend (40% Roussanne, 28% Marsanne, 24% Muscat blanc, 9% Colombard) tastes like straight up lemonade served with a hint of citrahops. Lively aromas of ocean air mingle with a touch of lime zest for a libation that’s begging for sunshine and seaside vacations. Think Mediterranean meets Pacific Ocean.

The Muscat blanc and Roussanne were harvested three days prior to Marsanne. Each lot tumbled in the press to get just a hint of skin contact before pressing, then co-fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for six months. Colombard pressed immediately, fermented separately in stainless steel, and aged in neutral vessels before blending with Roussanne, Marsanne, and Muscat blanc. Unfined. Unfiltered. Sediment expected.

These grapes are the first to come into the cellar every year and the resulting wine is brimming with joy and light-hearted play. Reach for Post Flirtation White when you’re celebrating new beginnings or need a friendly reminder to bring a little ease into your day.

After eight years apprenticing around the world, Martha set out as a self-funded, first generation winemaker to answer the question, “What does California taste like?” In her hot little corner of Northern California, Mediterranean grapes thrive and healthy vineyards allow her to create joyful balanced wines. Martha's wines are made from unexpected varietals and offer new takes on California classics. She does things the right way even if it's not the easy or cool way. Of the nearly two dozen wines she make every year, blends and flavors change but the desire to share the simple pleasures of natural wine remains the same.
