Ronco Delle Betulle Pinot Grigio Friuli DOC 2022

A Ramato style Pinot Gris from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the color is delicately coppery due to a short maceration during fermentation. The aroma is elegant, with pleasant notes of yellow flowers, mature peach and honey, with light puffs of dried fruit. Fresh and rich on the palate, with a marked minerality, offering rich notes of stone fruit, baking spices and tropical hints like mango. Great acidity backs up loads of character. There's a creamy, full quality. This isn't your average light, zesty Pinot Grigio -- it's more complex, textured and flavorful, showcasing the depth possible from the Friuli region, especially when made with minimal intervention. 

100% Pinot Grigio grapes grown in certified organic vineyards owned by the winery in the Rosazzo area in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The harvest is strictly manual, and once in the cellar, the grapes are de-stemmed, cooled and left to macerate at a controlled temperature for a short period. After a soft pressing, the wine ages for 5-6 months in steel. The wine is bottled without filtration, then rests for another 5-6 months in the cellar before going to market.

A leading wine producer from the Eastern hills of Friuli, Ronco delle Betulle's wine-making tradition dates back to 1967, owing to Giovanbattista Adami’s passion and genuine sentiment for his land. His daughter Ivana took over in the 1990s, and immediately began evolving and expanding the winery in a conscious and consistent way, merging ancient traditions with modern processes, balancing experimentation and respect for the past. Today, her son Simone works alongside her, and thus Ronco delle Betulle can continue its path of innovation while respecting nature and teachings of the past.
