Terre Stregate "Aurora" Greco Sannio DOP 2024
Aurora is 100% Greco from the Sannio DOP appelation in Campania, Italy, with an intense golden yellow color and aromas of green apple, lemon rind, white spring flower, nectarine and a whiff of wild herb. The juicy, tangy, medium-bodied palate offers Bartlett pear, white peach and a tangy saline note alongside bright acidity and high aromatic persistence. Aurora represents the future, the continuation of life, the light seen from the window in the morning, the dawn of a new day.
100% Greco hand harvested from vines at 400-450m above sea level in clay and limestone. Just after harvest, the grapes undergo careful and gentle pressing as whole clusters. The free-run must obtained, strictly protected from oxygen, is separated from the press must and clarified by natural settling. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature entirely in stainless steel wine vats. Aging: takes place entirely in stainless steel tanks, through the management of fine lees with regular batonnages for four to six months. After spending 3-4 weeks aging in the bottle, the wine begins to fully express the fresh and fruity characteristics that are typical of Sannio whites.
Terre Stregate is a historic, family-owned winery in Guardia Sanframondi, Campania, known as "Bewitched Lands," blending ancient myths with a five-generation winemaking legacy, revived in 2004 by the Iacobucci family (Filomena & Carlo) after a hiatus, focusing on organic farming of native grapes like Falanghina & Aglianico, connecting to local legends of witches under a walnut tree.
