Antiquum Farm Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2022

A blend of all the estate's Pinot Noir selections, this wine reflects the many facets of the land, from the delicate, ethereal notes at the vineyard’s edges to the deeper, more earth-rooted, brooding core. Vibrant and dynamic, it moves with an almost magnetic energy, displaying floral and tropical tones, lithe texture, vibrant acidity and layers of complexity woven together by a seamless structure that gives it both depth and balance. Bold yet refined, it’s a wine of both profound expression and quiet elegance, offering a glimpse into the soul of the farm and the spirit of its most free-spirited inhabitant.

Hand harvested during cool nights to insure the structural integrity and freshness of the fruit, the grapes for this wine are selected from each section of Antiquum Farm’s 14.5 acre estate vineyard. The winemaking process is intentionally minimalistic in order to allow the extraordinary character of the vineyards and work to shine. Native yeast strains are allowed to run wild. A single punch down was done by hand daily until the wine fermented 100% dry. The must was then pressed, sent to a settling tank and barreled into French oak (24% new) for eleven months. Individual barrels were selected to build a wine capable introducing the unique and exotic terroir of Antiquum Farm, and the finished wine was bottled unfiltered and un-fined. only 700 cases produced.

The vintner's daughter, Daisy, has a ferocious passion for chickens. When she was five, her burgeoning flock escaped and overran the vineyard. This happy accident became a defining moment for the family's farming, as they embraced the hens' natural inclination to scratch out weeds and balance insect populations. Now the farm practices what they call "grazing-based viticulture," in which a very specific and complementary sequence of farm animals is used to simultaneously weed and fertilize the vineyard, contributing to and enhancing its biodiversity and terrior.
