Brintziki "Esperos" Orange Assyrtiko 2022

"Esperos" is an extraordinary orange wine from Ancient Olympia's variety of Assyrtiko, with intense but delicate romas of citrus, figs and ripe prickly pears, and spectacular crispy taste. Medium bodied, dry and structured, fruity with layers of honey-dipped cantaloupe, tangerine candy, dried ginger, orange taffy and orange blossoms, with juicy acid, dry tannins and a round creamy finish with notes of lime blossom and bergamot.

Assyrtiko is Greece’s most acclaimed white grape, originally from volcanic Santorini, now celebrated worldwide for its piercing acidity, mineral-driven character, and remarkable aging potential. Thriving in harsh, dry and windy conditions where few grapes can survive, Assyrtiko produces dry wines with a distinctive steely texture, salty minerality and vibrant freshness. Its unique combination of intensity, structure and longevity has made Assyrtiko a benchmark for Mediterranean white wines and a symbol of Greek wine excellence.

This 100% Assyrtiko wine is from Ilia, Peloponnese, Greece. It undergoes 15 days fermentation on skins in tank, followed by two months sur lie in oak with bâtonnage once per month. Certified organic, woman winemaker, sustainable farming, carbon neutral, solar and geothermal powered winery.

The Brintziki Estate is a producer of indigenous, rare varietals and is considered to be Greece’s first green winery. Located in the Ilian region of the Peloponnese near the sacred town of Ancient Olympia, the family-owned property is certified organic and completely carbon-neutral through the use of renewable solar and geothermal energy. They grow indigenous varietals – some, like the Tinaktorogos, old enough to be referenced by Homer – and use natural yeast for most of their wines.
