Kolagis Saperavi Rosé Special Reserve 2023
Traditional natural wine from the country of Georgia, which many consider to be the birthplace of wine. Kolagis Saperavi Rosé Special Reserve is made from 100% Saperavi grapes. A dry rosé showing notes of strawberry, raspberry, florals, black cherry and red plum, layered with soft creaminess and a tangy twist.
Founded in 1887 by Nika Jeiranashvili, Kolagis Marani (winery) is located in the village of Kolagi, in the heart of Georgia’s Kakheti region. The winery has been handcrafting natural wines for over a century and is steeped in tradition. The small-scale vineyards, spanning just two hectares, are cultivated using horses for plowing, and are tended entirely by hand, honoring the methods passed down through generations. At an elevation of 500 meters, their vineyards gaze upon the northeast Caucasus mountains, basking in the full sun of the Georgian summer. The current owner, Nika, is grandson and namesake of the original founder, as well as a member of Georgia’s Natural Wine Association. Koligis wines are hand-crafted, with an annual production of about 6,000 bottles.
Surrounded by orchards of cherry, peach, pear, hazelnuts, nuts, apples & plums, Koligis' vines benefit from a rich biodiversity that contributes to the complexity of the wines. Practicing organic for 137 years, no added SO2, no additives, unfiltered, dry farmed, vegan, hand-harvested & sorted, native yeasts.
